Collection: Macrophylla

Macrophylla is the most well known of the hydrangea species.  Often refered to as the french hybrid, big leaf or hortensia.  This species origjnally came from Japan but is the most cultivated plant in the world, thousands of cultivars and counting. 

Mophead - The nickname used to describe the familiar 'snowball' bloom on these hydrangeas. The florets seen are all sterile forming large colorful globular heads. 

Lacecap - Lacecap flowers are made up of small fertile flowers in the center with a ring of larger sterile florets around the outside. The flower head has a comparatively flat, roughly disc-shaped appearance.

Zone hardiness is USDA zone 6 to 9, unless otherwise noted. Bloom times vary just slightly but most bloom late spring through fall.
