As easy and satisfying to grow as any of our hydrangeas. Leuchtfeuer is always in bloom during the season with rich red to deep pink flowers that look like they're on fire. This nice compact plant blooms for a very long time. The leaves add a lovely back drop of glossy green with red/brown edging in the fall. Lime or phosphorus will keep this beautiful red hydrangea from turning blue in acidic/aluminum rich soil. Bred in Germany by H. Dienemann in 1962.
