Red, blue and green petaled Autumn colored heads make this a beautiful dried hydrangea for your winter pleasure. In the spring and summer, it blooms deep pink to purple in neutral soils and a vivid blue in acid soil. Altona grows best in afternoon shade but I've seen this growing in full sun and looking fabulous in the Northwest US. Bred by H. Schadendorff in Germany in 1931.
