Dear Hydrangeas PlusŪ Newsletter Subscribers!
Welcome to March 2015. Happy Pi Day!
I hope everyone enjoyed a little pie or pizza yesterday. It was
an epic pi day for us math nerds. 3-14-15 at 9:26 and 53
seconds. 3.141592653…. Get it? Yes, I know I’m a nerd
but we enjoyed the day.
We are having a beautiful spring here in Oregon. Hydrangeas are
breaking out with their spring foliage in some beautiful colors.
Visit our Facebook page to see a few photos later this week. We
finally got some rain (2 inches) and now our power is out from a nasty
windstorm!
It is time to start thinking about fertilizing the hydrangeas. We
recommend a balanced, time-released fertilizer so that the nutrients
are released over a 3 or 4 month period. We sell a great one on
our website as well as a great aluminum sulfate product and garden lime
to sweeten your soil. I can ship amendment only orders cheaper
than the website calculates via USPS Priority Mail so email me
specifically for a better cost of shipping.
Orders are coming in quickly so order early and don’t miss out on those
special varieties. You can order now but ship later. If
something is out of stock, please email me and I’ll let you know if and
when I expect it back in stock.

Transplanting Tip
It is a good time to consider transplanting any of those hydrangeas
that may need a little more sun or a little less. When the
hydrangea is dormant or mostly dormant, it is a great time to move
these shallow rooted plants. Just be sure to get lots of the
lateral roots and water it well in its new home well.
