Welcome to the April 2012 newsletter for Hydrangea Plus®.
 
Happy Easter!  We hope everyone is having a wonderful spring.  We’ve had our usual ‘four weather events in one day’ kind of spring here.  Snow, hail, rain and my favorite, sun – spring.  I really think they appropriately named this time of the year.
 
Speaking with different customers from all over the country, it has been a very strange spring for not just the Pacific Northwest.  I’m not sure there will ever be another normal spring around here.  We’ll just have to wait and see what next spring will be.
 
We are seeing some blooms!  And, just a little bit of color.  Leaves are leafing, buds are budding on some of the new wood blooming cultivars.  It is going to be a great summer for hydrangeas!


What’s Happening…
Our annual on-site retail spring break weekend sale was a huge success.  The sun decided to bless us with a beautiful day but not too hot.  Customers really enjoyed our friends at Fry Road Nursery, Seabright Gardens and Dancing Oaks Nursery.

The annual Gardenpalooza at Fir Point Farms will be next weekend, April 14th from 8am to 4pm in Aurora.  (see http://www.gardenpalooza.com).  There will be 45 local vendors selling everything from awesome tools, garden art and hydrangeas (that’s me!).  We will be there rain or shine as usual.  We usually have a little of both but for the 10th anniversary of this awesome event, please do your sun dance.  You’ll even see us vendors buying plants from one another.  Come early, too.  Parking is limited and don’t park on Arndt Road or you will be ticketed.  Clackamas Sheriffs will be grumpy.  If you want me to bring a plant for you, please let me know by Thursday, April 12th.

Spring Overstock sale – BIG BIG SALE
Sale is April 27 – May 12, 10am to 5pm daily only here at the nursery.  Don’t miss out.  I’m not sure what we will have but come and find out.  We grow more than just hydrangeas so come even if you’re not looking for hydrangeas.  Look for the signs once you get close to our place (they are white with a picture of a hydrangea)

Remember Mother’s Day
It’s never too early to think about getting that special lady in your life a special gift.  How about a hydrangea!  Or a gift certificate from Hydrangeas Plus!  Mother’s Day is May 13th this year.  Orders for Mother’s Day will need to be placed by May 7th at 1:00pm, PST.   We can send E-mail gift certificates through May 11th.  We should have lots of hydrangeas budding and ready to bloom by then so let us help you pick a hydrangea.  Be sure to include any special comments on the order, too.

Working and office schedule
We’re off and running, literally this time of the year.  If the internet ordering isn’t for you, you’re not alone and we’re here for you.  If I’m not in the office or on the other line, please leave a message.  I’m a working owner, the big boss, the lone office employee and I like to get my hands dirty and not sit inside and do paper pushing on sunny days.  But I’m never far away.  Email is always a great way to reach me.  Email me through the website or at info@hydrangeasplus.com.


A little administration
When we upgraded last year, many folks had trouble logging into their user accounts. If this happened to you, please let me know.  I can fix the problem.  With the new upgrade, any zip code with the 4 digit extension will not allow you to login to your account.
