These are very hardy hydrangeas native to Japan and China. Paniculata varieties feature a panicle (cone shaped) flower head six to eighteen inches long consisting of fertile and sterile florets blooming on new wood. The flowers appear in late summer and remain on the plant for many months. The leaves are usually slender and somewhat rough to the touch. Paniculatas are easy to grow and rated for zones 4a-9.
