These very hardy hydrangeas are native to Japan and China but new varieties are coming frm the US and Europe. Blooms are large pyraminds with sterile and fertile florets. Flowers appear in late summer and remain on the plant for months. Most experience dramatic color changes in the fall. Blooms come from new wood nd studies show most are hardier than the zone 4 we indicate. Good through zone 8, maybe zone 9 with shade. The paniculata famiy is typically blooming in late summer and continue to bloom well into the fall.
Our 1-year plants have been grown in a 3.5 pot for at least one growing season. The container is at least 3 by 3 and foliage is typically 2 to 4.
Our 2-year plants are growing in a trade 1-gallon container for at least one growing season. The one-gallon plants have a root ball of approximately 4 to 5 inches and foliage can be 4 to 12 in height (DWARF cultivars will be smaller). Please note these plants are not shipped in their original containers and must be planted or potted up immediately after receipt.
